We are seeking motivated and efficient individuals to join our Perioperative Department as Operating Theatre Assistants. These permanent roles offer an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care within a supportive and dynamic surgical team.

About the Role

As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting nursing and medical staff to ensure the smooth operation of the theatre environment. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting and supporting patients in the Operating Theatres.
  • Preparing and maintaining the theatre environment in line with scheduled operating lists.
  • Caring for and maintaining theatre equipment.
  • Assisting theatre staff as required to ensure efficient workflow.

This hands-on role is central to the surgical process, and your ability to work effectively, efficiently, and with attention to detail will directly contribute to the quality of patient care.

 

About You

You are a self-motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering high standards of patient care. You have excellent communication skills, a strong customer focus, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience as a Theatre Assistant or in a similar healthcare support role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient care and customer service excellence.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts across a 7-day rotating roster, including weekends, evenings, and participation in the on-call roster.

Highly regarded:

  • Certificate III or IV in a relevant field (e.g. Health Services) or an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) qualification.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a small team within a perioperative setting.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Understanding of perioperative workflows and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
