The Sleep Technician plays a key role in delivering a high-quality and efficient Sleep Service to all patients. Working as part of a collaborative clinical team, you will ensure safe, accurate, and patient-focused sleep study assessments aligned with Queensland Sleep protocols.

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented Sleep Technician to join our sleep laboratory on a casual basis. In this position, you will be responsible for admitting patients and preparing them for overnight sleep studies (polysomnography).

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and admit patients attending for overnight sleep studies
  • Provide clear guidance, reassurance, and support to patients
  • Apply and calibrate electrodes, sensors, and monitoring equipment in line with established sleep study protocols
  • Perform equipment checks and troubleshoot minor technical issues to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Document patient information and setup details with high attention to accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with overnight staff to ensure smooth handover and continuity of care.
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and professional environment for all patients

 

About You

To thrive in this role, you will have a strong attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

You will bring:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine ability to put patients at ease.
  • Confidence with equipment setup, calibration, and basic troubleshooting.
  • A strong commitment to patient safety, comfort, and high-quality data collection.
  • Recent or current experience working as a Sleep Technician (essential).
  • Sound computer skills.
  • A background in nursing or a health-related profession (desirable but not essential).

 

Remuneration: Base Hourly Rates in accordance with Enterprise Agreement + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances.

Requirements

  • Must provide or complete a National Police Check conducted within the previous 12 months
