The Opportunity

This is a rare chance to step into a pivotal leadership role shaping clinical care across key sites in Sydney’s southern suburbs. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead the delivery of high-quality clinical services, including clinical governance, therapeutic programs, intake, and bed management. You will influence service strategy, strengthen relationships, and empower teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes. Your expertise in workforce development, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence will help drive meaningful change and continuous improvement. What You Will Do

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and upholding compliance with hospital accreditation standards, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous quality improvement.
  • Championing patient safety initiatives and ensuring consistently high clinical outcomes across all service areas.
  • Ensuring full compliance with all regulatory, legal, and operational requirements.
  • Overseeing care delivery logistics, including bed management, patient flow optimisation, demand forecasting, and workforce coordination.
  • Driving strategic workforce planning and supporting the development of the clinical workforce in line with organisational priorities.
  • Contributing to business growth and development initiatives, responding to emerging needs identified by the Executive team and Ramsay Health Care.
  • Collaborating with the Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) community to support the delivery of exceptional clinical care.
  • Managing departmental and hospital budgets, working closely with the Executive team to achieve financial objectives.
  • Assessing workplace culture and implementing strategies to build a positive, engaged, and high-performing environment.

What You Will Bring

  • Extensive senior clinical leadership experience, supported by AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • Deep expertise in contemporary models of service delivery.
  • The ability to maintain strategic oversight while navigating complex and high-pressure operational environments.
  • A proven track record in leading Quality & Risk programs, including accreditation, continuous improvement, and complaint and incident management.
  • Practical experience in workforce planning, roster optimisation, and creating positive, collaborative team cultures.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to manage budgets and meet workforce, activity, and expense targets.
  • Highly developed skills in building and sustaining effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.

About the Hospital

Kareena Private Hospital is a 170-bed licenced acute care facility located in the heart of the Sutherland Shire. We offer a wide range of services including Day Surgery, seven Operating Theatres, Endoscopy Procedure Room, 8 Bed Level 1 Intensive Care Unit, a Special Care Nursery, and comprehensive Rehabilitation facilities featuring a hydrotherapy pool and gymnasiums. Our specialties span orthopaedics, general and colorectal surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, general medicine, geriatrics, plastic surgery, ENT, urology, paediatrics, and more.
