An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join finance team. This role offers the chance to work in a complex and rewarding healthcare environment, providing accurate and timely financial support across our hospital.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, supporting strategic decision-making, and contributing to the achievement of the Hospital’s financial and operational objectives.
The Opportunity
In this broad and hands-on role, you will be responsible for:
- Assist in preparing and reporting monthly and year-end financial accounts, including general ledger reconciliations and cash flow reporting.
- Providing accurate financial analysis and insights to support business and operational decision-making.
- Managing the full Capital Expenditure (CapEx) function, including budgeting, forecasting, monitoring capital projects, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Ensuring appropriate governance and approval processes for capital spend and liaising with clinical and operational stakeholders to support effective asset management.
- Assisting with ad-hoc analysis and statutory reporting as required.
About You
You are a technically strong accountant with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to financial management.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting processes, accounting systems, and general ledger management.
- Experience in inventory control and managing end-to-end capital expenditure.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- The ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to team and organisational goals.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Microsoft Office suite.
Highly Regarded
- CA or CPA qualification or currently working towards one.
- Tertiary qualification in Financial or Management Accounting.
- Experience using SAP and/or PRONTO systems.
- Previous experience in the healthcare sector.
