The Learning Designer is responsible for designing and developing innovative and engaging learning solutions that support our organisational capability needs now and for the future.
With a deep knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies and digital authoring tools, they collaborate with Learning Design Lead, Learning Leads and Specialists, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to create interactive learning content for clinical, non-clinical and corporate audiences. These learning solutions span a broad range of subject matter including compliance, clinical, leadership, customer service and soft skill development.
In addition, the Learning Designer will contribute to the build of learning design standards and accessibility frameworks to ensure a consistent and impactful learning experience for every learner, as they develop new skills, knowledge and behaviours.
Essential
- Proven experience in instructional design and development of learning experiences
- Proven experience designing both soft skills and technical learning content including leadership, communication, soft skill, technology and compliance subject matter
- Strong knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design principles, and learning technologies
- Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (Articulate Storyline) and animation production software (Vyond), Adobe Indesign or similar multimedia software.
- Strong graphic design capability.
- Strong project management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated with effective time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workload and deliver results.
- Excellent oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to clearly articulate and present concepts and recommendations.
- Highly collaborative, with a natural desire to seek input from colleagues to develop ideas and concepts.
- A growth mindset, with a curiosity for learning and continually evolving and improving our learning solutions.
Desirable
- Bachelor's degree in instructional design, education, or a related field
- Experience within a health care setting
- Familiarity with agile project management methodologies
- Experience with gamification and other innovative learning approaches
Key Accountabilities and Position Deliverables
Collaborate with the Learning Leads and Specialists to:
- Produce a high-level design for new learning solutions that outlines the identify learning objectives, outcomes and proposed content structure.
- Update project plans with progress and escalate any issues.
- Review content and manage signoffs with SMEs and key stakeholders.
Consult with SMEs to:
- Obtain source information to support the design of the learning content.
- Design and develop engaging and interactive learning content, including learning materials, assessments and evaluation strategies for both face to face and digital learning solutions.
- Create engaging and visually appealing graphics, animations and multimedia elements to enhance the learning experience.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of engaging learning solutions in line with the Ramsay Learning Design Standards, Accessibility Standards and the writing style guide and design learning solutions in line with these.
Design and develop engaging templates for learning solutions including, but not limited to:
- PowerPoint slide decks, learner resources, quick reference guides
- eLearning: Storyline & Rise template, Chameleon
- Undertake QA checks to ensure that learning solutions reflect the RHC brand, meet WCAG 2.1 guidelines and principles of inclusion.
Evaluate learning solutions based on feedback and data available from evaluations and identify opportunities for improvement
Stay up to date with emerging trends and best practices in learning design, graphic design, eLearning and technologies to ensure that our programs are engaging, relevant and reflect contemporary learning design
