The Opportunity
Ramsay is seeking a Contract Manager to oversee the effective management of a portfolio of health fund contracts for Ramsay Health Care. This role involves developing and implementing contract strategies, as well as negotiating agreements. The successful candidate will play a key role in operationalising contracts, contributing to departmental planning, and supporting the Contract Management Team in the management and delivery of strategic and operational projects. Please note, this role can be based in any state across Australia.
About You
To excel in this role, you will need to demonstrate substantial commercial acumen, showcase strong leadership and the ability to motivate those around you, and understand how to optimise revenue while delivering on strategic and operational plans.
Key Accountabilities
- Effectively engage and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders to prepare for and lead negotiations.
- Develop and execute negotiation strategies, including the design of alternative funding models and assessment of their impacts on the business.
- Liaise with senior management throughout the negotiation and negotiate with payers to agree on commercial terms and contractual clauses that promote the interests and objectives of Ramsay Health Care while mitigating risks.
- Provide support and coaching to hospital management staff to enable the operationalisation of contracts.
- Develop internal mechanisms to support contract implementation, including compliance requirements for ongoing maintenance.
- Prepare and deliver education and training, including quick reference guides for Ramsay Health Care sites.
- Identify, document, and manage key contractual risks throughout the life of the contract.
- Maintain deadlines on deliverables and communicate regularly with all key stakeholders about contractual issues.
- Coordinate and report on information and other performance metrics/deliverables as required within the contracts.
Your Skills and Experience
- Exceptional verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including external partners.
- Extensive expertise in contract management, consultation, and negotiation, successfully influencing outcomes with both internal and external stakeholders.
- In-depth understanding of the private health industry, including the challenges and opportunities faced by hospitals and integrated healthcare operators.
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare models, including their benefits, limitations, and risks, with a focus on operationalising these models in the private healthcare sector.
- Proven experience in negotiating and managing private health insurance contracts, ensuring favourable terms and compliance.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to systematically assess complex problems, draw relevant conclusions, and effectively implement and communicate actionable solutions.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management capabilities, successfully managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy, complemented by robust project execution skills.
- Proven ability to deliver results and drive improvements in contract performance and stakeholder engagement.
Desirable
- Possess a tertiary qualification in business, commerce, Health Information Management, or a related discipline, underpinning a strong foundation in relevant principles and practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in delivering impactful training and education tailored to stakeholders at all levels, from junior staff to executives.
