The Opportunity

In this newly created role, you will lead a major transformation of Food Services across Ramsay’s national hospital network. As Food Services Director, you will shape the end-to-end catering strategy and uplift the quality, consistency, and sustainability of meals delivered to patients Australia-wide. You will drive the shift from fragmented, site-based practices to a unified “One Ramsay” model, using scale, standardisation, and data-driven insights to unlock innovation, efficiency, and meaningful commercial improvements. This is a rare opportunity to deliver lasting impact by redefining how nutritious, high-quality food is provided across our hospitals.

What You Will Bring

You will bring substantial experience in large-scale food service or hospitality operations, with a proven track record of leading transformation across complex, multi-site environments. Strong commercial acumen, data-driven decision-making, and demonstrated success in improving cost, quality, and operational efficiency are essential. You’ll also possess exceptional stakeholder and vendor management skills, with the capability to standardise processes and lift performance at a national level. Most importantly, you’ll offer the strategic vision and leadership needed to drive a unified approach that enhances the patient experience and supports Ramsay’s broader organisational goals.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop and deliver a national catering strategy that drives cost, quality, and service improvements across all sites.
  • Implement a national menu standardisation framework supported by a central recipe bank and cost-per-meal tracking tools.
  • Achieve targeted savings and reduce cost-per-meal variance through improved cost visibility and data-driven decision-making.
  • Consolidate the vendor base and increase spend with preferred suppliers, ensuring adoption of national contracts.
  • Oversee execution of major catering initiatives, including vendor consolidation, labour productivity improvements, and system enhancements.
  • Deploy catering management systems to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and strengthen cost tracking.
  • Monitor and report on category performance metrics, including cost, quality, vendor performance, and compliance levels.
  • Engage and align catering managers, dietitians, and hospital executives to embed the “One Ramsay” national model.
  • Identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives, including technology adoption, automation, and pilot programs.
  • Ensure catering operations comply with legislative frameworks, national standards, and Ramsay policies and procedures.

Desirable

  • Tertiary qualifications in procurement, business, supply chain, or a related discipline.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare operations, regulatory standards, and service delivery requirements.
  • Proven senior leadership experience within healthcare, facilities, or other complex, multi-site environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and deliver category strategies that drive measurable commercial and operational improvements.
  • Track record of leading large-scale transformation or optimisation programs across diverse locations.
  • Advanced analytical capability, including cost modelling, forecasting, and benefits realisation.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and change leadership skills, with the ability to influence and align senior leaders and operational teams.

Benefits

  • Attractive remuneration package, complemented by comprehensive benefits designed to recognise your impact and support your overall wellbeing.
  • Leadership and professional development opportunities, with clear pathways for advancement across Australia’s largest private healthcare provider.
  • Access to an exclusive rewards program, offering premium discounts and privileges with leading national and global brands.
  • Join a purpose-driven organisation at a pivotal moment, where you can lead meaningful transformation and influence the future of high-quality healthcare across the Ramsay network.
