The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist for our Operating Theatres, with a primary focus on the General and Bariatric surgical specialty. Our theatres accommodate a broad spectrum of surgical disciplines, including orthopaedics, general surgery, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, vascular, ENT, plastics, gastroenterology/respiratory, dental, and neurosurgery (spinal and pain management). The General Surgery Clinical Nurse Specialist will collaborate closely with both nursing and medical teams to advance this essential specialty.

Reporting directly to the Operating Theatre Nursing Unit Manager, you will undertake your responsibilities with the support and guidance of an experienced and cohesive team. You will be expected to deliver safe, high-quality patient care within the perioperative setting, demonstrating superior attention to detail and a strong commitment to customer service, consistent with the Hospital's and Ramsay Health Care’s core values and strategic objectives.

Skills and Experience

To excel in this role, you will need to exhibit a positive and collaborative attitude, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. A robust perioperative skillset and a commitment to delivering safe, high-quality patient care are essential.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Current nursing registration with AHPRA
  • A minimum of 3 years of recent experience as a Scrub / Scout nurse
  • Proficiency in the General Surgery Specialty (e.g., Upper GI, Colorectal, Bariatric, Breast, and emergency procedures)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant surgical instruments and equipment
  • The ability to work effectively within a dynamic team
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail
  • The capability to remain calm in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Flexibility is essential, as this role requires working across a 7-day roster. This includes early and late shifts, with an on-call rotation for overnight, weekend, and public holiday coverage. While night shifts are not required, participation in the on-call roster is necessary.

 

Remuneration

On offer is base hourly rate of $56.82 + superannuation, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (NSW Clinical Nurse/Midwifery Specialist)

Requirements

  • Provide or complete a National Police Check (conducted within the last 12 months)
