Ramsay Health Care is seeking an energetic and responsive Public Relations and Media Manager to join our team.
This is a rare opportunity to play a hands-on role in shaping the public narrative of one of Australia’s largest and most trusted health care providers.

As Public Relations and Media Manager, you will own day-to-day media outcomes for Ramsay Health Care while contributing to a nationally coordinated PR and reputation program. You will work at the intersection of healthcare, storytelling and public interest. You will surface meaningful stories, managing media engagement, and help protect and strengthen Ramsay’s reputation across local and national markets.

This role suits an experienced media professional who thrives on autonomy, judgement and pace - someone who enjoys being both proactive and responsive, and who understands that media doesn’t operate to a 9–5 cycle.

About the role

This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to take ownership of outcomes, proactively identify opportunities, and continuously expand the impact of their work.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading media engagement

• Lead day-to-day media engagement, ensuring timely, accurate and well-judged responses.
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with journalists across local, regional and industry media.
• Drive proactive media coverage that reflects Ramsay’s people, care, innovation and community contribution.
• Develop high-quality media materials and monitor coverage and sentiment to inform planning and risk management.

Driving proactive storytelling

• Identify and develop compelling stories from across Ramsay’s hospitals, clinicians and communities.
• Contribute to national campaigns and long-term reputation-building initiatives.
• Adapt approved content for different audiences and channels, including GP-facing communications.

Supporting issues and reputation management

• Partner with the Head of Strategic Communications on the management of sensitive or complex issues.
• Support the preparation of reactive media responses and executive media readiness.
• Maintain strong governance through accurate media logs, content records and reporting.
Building strong internal partnerships
• Build trusted relationships with hospital leaders, clinicians and subject matter experts and work collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
• Translate complex or technical topics into clear, human-centred narratives.

About you

You’re an experienced PR or media professional who combines creativity with credibility. You’re confident operating independently, comfortable making judgement calls, and motivated by the opportunity to make an impact. You are adept at building relationships, crafting impactful narratives, and providing strategic advice. You are energetic, flexible, and responsive, with a genuine desire to contribute to a leading health care organisation.

You’ll bring:

• Proven experience in local and national media relations.
• A strong track record of proactive pitching and earned media outcomes.
• Excellent writing and editing skills across media and corporate formats.
• The ability to communicate complex healthcare or technical topics clearly.
• Calmness under pressure and sound judgement in fast-moving situations.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
• Confidence working with senior leaders, clinicians and external stakeholders.
• An analytical mindset to track coverage, sentiment and KPIs.
• Awareness of ethical, legal and regulatory considerations in healthcare communications.

Why this role is different

• Real autonomy — you will own outcomes, not just tasks.
• Purpose-driven storytelling — your work directly supports patients, doctors and communities.
• National impact — local stories with national reach.
• Trusted partnerships — work closely with senior leaders and clinicians.

This role requires responsiveness outside standard business hours during issues or major announcements, and is best suited to someone energised by pace, responsibility and variety.
