About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an Art Therapist to join our respected and thriving team of mental health professionals!
As an Art Therapist, you will be responsible for facilitating and supervising art and craft groups for in-patients and out-patients experiencing a wide range of mental health issues like Depression, Anxiety, Borderline Personality, Bipolar and Schizoaffective Disorder. The role will primarily be at the acute in-patient facility, Ramsay Clinic Adelaide however you may also be called upon to work in the out-patient facility, Ramsay Day Clinic Kahlyn.
This role will entail, but is not limited to:
- Facilitating, supervising, and encouraging patients in creative art and craft group sessions across a 7-day roster with some weekend hours.
- Ensuring all patients are assisted in their attempts at expression through the creative process in the art and craft space of either facility.
- Creating a non-judgemental space where patients feel comfortable to explore and express themselves through various art and craft mediums.
- Developing psychotherapeutic relationships with all patients whilst maintaining good boundaries and facilitating safe interactions amongst group members.
- Providing support to the Programming and Nursing staff and Management team to ensure the achievement of department and Hospital objectives in line with strategic Hospital plans.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong empathetic nature with clinical knowledge and experience of mental health conditions in a hospital setting. Also, desirably, the ability to consider broader implications of decisions and a strong commitment to teamwork and quality patient-focused care.
Essential criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in either Art Therapy / Counselling & Psychotherapy /Mental Health Nursing
- Relevant registration with ANZACATA / PACFA / AHPRA or the appropriate Board.
- One - two years’ experience working in a Mental Health setting.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating process-oriented groups and psychoeducational groups.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Willingness to accept and promote Ramsay’s core values.
