We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Financial Accountant to join the Corporate Finance team, with a dedicated focus on lease accounting.
The successful candidate’s main responsibility will be to manage the company’s lease portfolio in compliance with IFRS 16, ensuring accurate reporting and completeness of leases captured within the lease management system.
Knowledge, Skills and Capabilities
Essential
• Qualifications in Financial or Management Accounting disciplines and CA / CPA qualifications
• Experience in a similar role in a large, complex organisation
• Sound technical accounting knowledge
• Experience in lease accounting
• Ability to critically analyse financial information
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills to effectively work with cross-functional teams
• Experience working in an ASX listed company (Desirable)
About the role
Head Office & Australian Operations
• Manage the end-to-end accounting for leases, including recognition, measurement and disclosure under relevant accounting standards
• Maintain and reconcile the lease database, ensuring accuracy and completeness of lease records
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual lease accounting entries and reconciliations
• Maintain general ledger integrity, including preparation and posting of journals, accruals and prepayments.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting lease- related expenses
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in lease accounting and other areas.
Head Office
• Preparation of Australian Head Office monthly balance sheet reconciliations
• Provide support on projects initiated by Head Office
Hospitals
• Review and analysis of Hospital Balance Sheet KPI’s, and follow up for any anomalies noted
• Regular communication with Hospital Finance Managers and provision of financial accounting advice as required
Year-end & Half Yearly Reporting
• Support financial statement preparation by preparing disclosures and analysis.
• Assist with internal and external audits by liaising and responding to audit queries
Any other ad hoc projects where relevant
