The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for a highly motivated and experienced clinician to join our management team at Port Macquarie Private Hospital! As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be taking on a key leadership role within the Anaesthetics Day Surgery and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit working closely with the theatre floor managers to ensure the efficient management of staff and resources with the overall goal of ensuring excellence in care delivery in line with policies and procedures and best practice.
Reporting into the Director of Clinical Services and Perioperative Services Manager, you will be mentoring and leading a passionate team of nurses and clinical support staff so this role will suit an individual driven to help others succeed.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong clinical skillset, with recent management experience.
You will have exceptional communication skills and a passion for delivering excellent client care and customer service.
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum of five (5) years’ post-graduate nursing experience, with at least three (3) in a perioperative setting
- Proven knowledge as a senior nurse or manager
- Management or relevant post-graduate specialty qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Experience or exposure to managing clinical staff recruitment, rostering and performance management.
- Ability to effectively plan and manage financial, human and capital resources

The Hospital
Port Macquarie Private Hospital is an acute Hospital offering medical, surgical and rehabilitation. It has been a leading provider of healthcare for this community for over 40 years. With 72 beds, Port Macquarie Private Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services including Bariatric, Dental, General Surgery, Gynaecology, Ophthalmology Orthopaedic, Plastic Surgery, Urology, Vascular, Day surgery and medical services.
Our hospital has 6 Operating Theatres, 6 Chair, 28 bed Rehabilitation Unit, a 5 bed Close Observation Unit along with ward accommodation for medical and surgical patients in a combination of private and shared rooms.
