The Opportunity
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Acute Care for Waratah Ward at Southern Highlands Private Hospital. The Clinical Nurse Specialist is an advanced level Registered Nurse who acts as a clinical and professional resource person, demonstrating broad knowledge and clinical expertise in all facets of caring for the patient. Waratah Ward provides inpatient nursing care to a broad range of acute medical and surgical patients as well providing rehabilitation services and specialised palliative care. Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will perform high level nursing care and be the senior resource for Acute Care Nursing, ensuring a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the core values and strategic direction of the Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Contribute to and participate in the education of all clinical staff through involvement with precepting and clinical support for new staff, in-services, education initiatives and clinical competency programs
- Involvement in the Hospital and departmental quality improvement processes
- Demonstrate high levels of critical thinking and problem-solving skills within the acute clinical setting
- Drive the delivery of high-quality care to acute medical and surgical patients, championing standards of practice and best practice within your speciality area
- This opportunity is an active clinical leadership role, working closely with the NUM, Team Leader, Nursing Educator and the ward nursing team to drive the highest standards of evidence-based care in Acute Care Nursing.
Skills and Experience
You will have exceptional customer service, strong communication and interpersonal skills and meet the following criteria:
- Relevant registration with the AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum four (4) years’ experience in an acute hospital based clinical role
- Demonstrated extensive experience in Acute Care Nursing
- Relevant post-graduate qualification or undertaking same
- Excellent time management & organisation skills.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required
- Ability to work rotating roster
