Ramsay Health Care is Australia’s largest private hospital operator, committed to delivering safe, high quality care across our national network. We are seeking an experienced National Radiation Safety Manager (RSM) to lead and oversee radiation safety governance across all Ramsay facilities that utilise ionising and non ionising radiation.
 
In this pivotal role, you will work closely with facility based Radiation Safety Officers RSOs, clinical leaders, and the National Safety Team to ensure robust radiation safety practices that meet legislative, regulatory, and Ramsay Safety Management System requirements.
 
About the Role
 
The National Radiation Safety Manager will provide specialist leadership, oversight, and strategic guidance for radiation safety across
Ramsay Health Care.
 
Key responsibilities include:
 
Governance & Compliance
 
• Oversee national compliance with radiation legislation and relevant licensing, registration, and monitoring obligations, in accordance with Ramsay’s Radiation Safety Standard and the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC)
• Maintain and support the implementation of radiation safety policies, procedures, and working rules across all Ramsay facilities
• Lead national coordination of radiation risk management, including safe use, storage, transport, and disposal of radiation emitting equipment and materials
• Manage Location Specific Practice Numbers (LSPN) for Ramsay hospitals
• Coordinate Diagnostic Imaging Accreditation (DIAS) for Ramsay hospitals.
 
Advisory & Technical Expertise
 
• Provide specialist advice to executives, facility leaders, and clinical teams regarding radiation hazards, exposure controls, radiation PPE, signage, and safe operating practices
• Support and advise facility based RSOs and collaborate with Radiation & Laser Safety Committees across the organisation.
 
Training & Capability Development
 
• Drive national education strategies by ensuring appropriate training and competency programs for all relevant workforce groups (e.g., Radiographers, Theatre, Cardiac Scientists, Nurses) as per RHC learning frameworks requirements
• Ensure ongoing instruction of workers in radiation protection, monitoring, and exposure minimisation.
 
Monitoring & Incident Management
 
• Oversee national radiation monitoring programs, including personal dosimetry, equipment compliance checks, and safety audits
• Provide expert guidance in radiation related incident investigations and support root cause analysis in accordance with Ramsay’s Safety Management System.
 
About You
 
You will be a subject matter expert in radiation safety with the ability to influence and guide clinical and operational teams at all levels. You will bring:
 
• Tertiary qualifications in physics, nuclear science, radiation protection, health science, or a related discipline. Radiation Safety officer as a minimum
• Demonstrated experience in radiation safety or regulatory oversight
• High level knowledge of radiation legislation, codes of practice, and healthcare applications
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and training capability
• Ability to lead across a complex national organisation.
