About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Head Chef to join the Catering leadership team. This role is well suited to a passionate culinary professional who is committed to delivering high-quality food and leading high-performing teams.
Reporting to the Food Services Manager, you will support the day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring contemporary dining standards and exceptional meal service for patients, staff, visitors, the cafeteria, and hospital functions.
This is a permanent full-time role on a 12-month contract, working 76 hours per fortnight, with the possibility of extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a large kitchen team within a healthcare setting,

- Prepare nutritious, appetising meals tailored to patient, staff, café, and function requirements.
- Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, hygiene, and safety.
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health, and regulatory standards.
- Support daily kitchen operations including ordering, stock control, and stock rotation.
- Contribute to menu planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work collaboratively within a fast-paced, professional environment.
- Build and maintain staffing profiles and rosters
- Support change management and process as per organisation requirements
- Hands on as per the operational needs of the department
About You
You are an experienced Head Chef who brings strong leadership capability, commercial awareness, and a commitment to excellence in food service delivery.
You will bring:
- Commercial Cookery Trade Certificate.
- Minimum five years’ experience as a Head Chef or in a similar senior role.
- Proven experience in workforce management.
- Strong skills in purchasing, product specification, stock control, and receipting.
- Experience using computerised menu systems.
- Background in hospital, hotel, or bulk catering environments is highly regarded.
- Strong communicator with all stakeholder groups

Remuneration: Will be based on experience level and qualifications.
Requirements
Everyone who joins Ramsay:
- Must provide or complete a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months.
- According to the role, Ramsay may require a proof of immunisation against infectious diseases.
