The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced and dedicated Nurse Unit Manager to provide exceptional clinical and operational leadership to our Special Care Nursery. This pivotal role requires a seasoned professional, ready to drive continuous improvement and foster a culture of excellence in woman-centred care. Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, you will perform duties to ensure a high level of quality patient care is delivered in line with the care values and strategic direction of the Hospital and Ramsay Health Care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clinical Leadership: Lead a skilled team of midwives while ensuring the delivery of exceptional care to women and newborns across all shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Education & Training: Provide ongoing education, training, and mentorship to midwifery staff, fostering professional development and continuous learning.
- Quality Improvement: Drive clinical governance, ensuring safe, evidence-based care is delivered in line with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes and provide a supportive work environment for staff.
Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role, you will be a leader with a passion for seeing your team members succeed and grow with a focus on education, training and skill-based learning. You hold exceptional communication skills and have the ability to inspire, motivate and mentor your team.
You will also demonstrate the following:
- Relevant registration with AHPRA as Registered Nurse or Midwife
- Experience in a management or senior leadership position
- Demonstrated experience in Special Care Nursery/NICU
- Proven ability to effectively plan and manage financial, human and material resources
- Ability to plan, develop, implement and evaluate continuous improvement program
- Ability to apply research findings to clinical practice
- Passion for education and mentoring staff, with a demonstrated ability to provide hands-on training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Ability to lead by example, instilling a culture of care, professionalism, and innovation.
