We are inviting Expressions of Interest from experienced and passionate midwives to step into the rewarding role of Graduate Midwifery Facilitator.

In this role, you’ll play a vital part in guiding and supporting graduate midwives as they transition into clinical practice—helping to create a safe, encouraging, and high-quality learning environment where they can truly thrive.

 

About the Role

As a key mentor and role model, you will provide hands-on clinical support, coaching, and guidance to graduate midwives within the maternity service. Your leadership will help build their confidence, strengthen clinical skills, and foster professional growth aligned with NMBA standards.

 

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide clinical facilitation, guidance, and day-to-day support to graduate midwives
  • Help graduates build clinical capability, critical thinking, and confidence
  • Lead by example, promoting excellence in midwifery practice and respectful workplace behaviours
  • Deliver constructive feedback, coaching, and bedside teaching
  • Contribute to assessments, documentation, and performance reviews
  • Collaborate with the Midwife Unit Manager, Clinical Midwifery Specialists, Staff Development Midwives, and Graduate Program Coordinator
  • Champion patient safety, quality care, and adherence to clinical standards and guidelines
  • Ability to plan, structure, and deliver formal education sessions, including developing agendas and relevant topics.

 

About You

  • Registered Midwife with current AHPRA registration (no restrictions)
  • Minimum 5 years’ clinical experience
  • FSEP Level 3 qualified
  • A supportive communicator who enjoys mentoring and developing others
  • Strong clinical knowledge with the ability to translate this into practical, evidence-based guidance
  • Passionate about education, professional development, and nurturing graduates
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a multidisciplinary environment

Desirable

  • Experience in facilitation, preceptorship, education, or mentoring roles
  • Completion of a preceptorship program (or equivalent)
  • Interest in contributing to the ongoing development of graduate programs
  • Competency in Manual Handling, Basic Life Support, and Medication Assessment

 

Remuneration: On offer is a full-time equivalent, base annual salary ranging from $102,387.90 - $108,784.58 + superannuation based on experience level and qualifications, exclusive of penalties or allowances. (WA Clinical Nurse/Midwife Level 2 gr1-gr4)
