The Opportunity
We are seeking a Wardsperson to join our team at Westmead Private Hospital. The Wardsperson sits within and supports a multidisciplinary team towards achieving excellent clinical care and outcomes for the patient, hospital and Ramsay Health Care. The Wardsperson will provide support and assistance to the clinical and non-clinical teams in both the ward and hospital areas in transport of patients and equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate knowledge of cleaning, transport, floor care, patient handling, discharge bed procedures, linen and waste management, and all relevant equipment.
- Assist with the transfer of patients (and luggage) between the clinical areas of the hospital and radiology.
- Assist with transfer, positioning and movement of patients ensuring appropriate no lift principles are utilised.
- Assist with the setting up of the board or conference rooms as required.
- Check and replace nitrous oxide, medical air and oxygen cylinders as required.
- Safely transfer patients to other facilities via the hospital bus as required (providing evidence of current license prior to driving).
- Locate equipment for use in the ward areas.
- Operate and maintain all machinery and equipment according to hospital policy and procedures and manufacturers instructions.
- Perform regular equipment checks, ensuring that any faults or adverse events are documented and reported to the relevant person or manager.
- Maintain tidy and clean work areas, equipment areas and trolleys.
- Perform other duties as requested by the DCS, ADCS and other managers.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Physical capability to undertake manual handling tasks
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment
- Flexibility to work across a 24/7 rotating roster
- Previous hospital or healthcare experience (desirable but not essential)

- Provide or complete a National Police Check (conducted within the last 12 months)
