The Opportunity

Ramsay Health Care is on the lookout for a National Payroll Director to elevate and streamline our payroll operations. In this pivotal role, you will lead and optimise payroll processing, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of our payroll and HR information systems. Your leadership will drive operational excellence across our organisation, managing payroll functions nationwide and providing strategic support to stakeholders throughout Ramsay’s diverse workstreams. As Ramsay embarks on its transformation journey, the National Payroll Director will play a key role in driving innovation. You will be tasked with advancing digital solutions and promoting a culture of continuous improvement and forward-thinking.

About You

To excel in this role, you must be highly collaborative, able to quickly build credibility and trust, and exhibit strong mental agility with a positive ‘can-do’ attitude. A hands-on approach to managing payroll processes, coupled with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for accurate and timely payroll outcomes, is essential.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead nationwide corporate workforce projects to enhance the People Strategy and manage payroll hubs, driving transformation to achieve greater efficiency and adaptability.
  • Oversee Ramsay Health Care’s payroll operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery and strict adherence to rigorous governance and audit standards, while driving digital integration and process improvements.
  • Develop and execute strategies to optimise payroll systems and processes, driving ongoing enhancements, efficiencies, and leveraging digital solutions for superior performance.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with team members and key stakeholders, managing payroll reporting and compliance effectively.
  • Supervise year-end reconciliations, payroll system upgrades, and month-end clear-downs, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Direct payroll system upgrades and testing procedures, ensuring seamless implementation and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Systems Team to ensure precise payroll system configuration.
  • Establish and uphold a robust payroll governance and audit framework to support operational integrity.

What You’ll Need

  • Over five years of senior management experience in payroll processing, administration, audit, financial reporting, and metrics within large, complex, multi-site organisations with multiple enterprise agreements.
  • Proven expertise in driving change, optimising processes, and implementing technology solutions to enhance payroll efficiency, streamline operations, and improve user experience.
  • Significant experience with HR systems as they relate to payroll, coupled with high-level governance, pay assurance capabilities, and a commitment to digital innovation.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing, mentoring, and motivating teams, alongside advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on integrating digital solutions.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and time management skills, with a commitment to delivering customer-focused payroll services and continuous improvement.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Requirements

  • You will have to provide a National Police check conducted within the previous 12 months.
